Scarlett Johansson is so keen to do a Black Widow movie she is calling on fans for support. And with the news that Avengers Assemble has smashed box office records in the US with an opening weekend of £128million, she won’t need superpowers to persuade bosses at Marvel studios. The27-year-old Hollywood beauty reprises her gun-wielding ‘Iron Man 2’ character Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, in the blockbuster, which has eclipsed previous record holder ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows-Part 2’. The final Potter film took £105million in its opening weekend in 2011. ‘Avengers Assemble’, which also stars Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo, stayed at the top of the UK box office for a second weekend and has now scooped a whopping £400 million worldwide. Now the 27-year-old star is hoping fans can bring her leather-clad character back for her own spin-off. She said: “I love her origin story. I think it’s just such a riveting one. It’s just steeped in history and the richness to shoot in Russia, perhaps. I hope that the fans’ voice is loud enough and they want to see a Widow origin story, I know Marvel would be happy to entertain that. We’ve spoken a lot about it.” Johansson also dished on what is the difference between playing Natasha Romanoff in ‘Iron Man 2’ and ‘Avengers’. “In ‘Avengers’ you see a little bit about how Natasha joined and it’s not that she’s fighting for the greater good of humanity. She was almost salvaged by SHIELD and so she’s loyal to that group, to that agency, but only as sort of paid debt,” she said. If the new film means the stunning actress is back in the leather catsuit for a couple of hours, ‘Avengers’ fans are sure to agree.
