At least six people, including a worker of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), and two gangsters were gunned down in a fresh spree of targeted killing in the port city on Wednesday.
As per reports, a PML-N activist was targeted and killed in Junejo Town, Baloch Colony. Baloch Colony Police Station chief AslamKhakharani said that 50-year-old Malik Shahbaz, son of Malik Ehsan, was targeted near his house in Junejo Town by two armed motorcyclists. He said that Shahbaz sustained serious bullet wounds and died on the way to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC). He said that Shahbaz ran a private mineral water company, and was killed while returning home from work. He said that no case had been registered as yet.
Separately, two gangsters were killed and another was injured in an exchange of fire between two gangs in Malir. Malir City Police Station House Officer (SHO) Ismail Lashari said the rival gangs of Lyari, led by Uzair Jan Baloch and ArshadPappu, exchanged heavy fire in Malir. The SHO said the associates of Uzair Jan Baloch were sitting at the AllahMadad Hotel at BakraPiri Road inMalir, when they were targeted by the members of the ArshadPappu group,who reached the hotel on motorcycles and started shooting. Police said that one member of the Uzair Jan Baloch group identified as Muhammad Hafiz, 22, son of Dur Muhammad,was killed, while another member, Rashid, 30, son of Ismail, sustained serious bullet wounds. Police said the members of Uzair Jan Baloch group retaliated, and killed one of the attackers. The SHO said that the identity of the killed member of ArshadPappu group could not be ascertained so far. He said the attackers managed to flee under cover of heavy firing. Later, several members of the Uzair Jan Balochgroup came from Lyari to the area, and forcibly closed the shops and markets. He said the condition of the injured gangster was told to be precarious. In yet another incident, Pak Colony Police claimed to have found two dead bodies from the LyariNadi near PuranaGolimar.
