After the beheading of 13 Pakistani soldiers by the Taliban in Miranshah, Pakistan Army has decided to initiate a targeted offensive in North Waziristan.
US has repeatedly demanded that Pakistan launch an offensive in North Waziristan especially against the so-called Haqqani network. Pakistan has promised to address the concern on Haqqani network but was reluctant to launch a full fledged operation in restive North Waziristan.
However, after this latest incident against Pakistani soldiers, sources told Online, Pakistan Army has decided to launch a targeted operation in North Waziristan in next few days, which would be completely different from the operation launched in Swat.
Sources said that Army Chief Gen Ashfaq Pervez Kayani in this regard has consulted Pakistan Supreme Commander Asif Ali Zardari in this regard and taken him into confidence.
Sources confirmed that currently three brigades of Pakistan Army are in North Waziristan who are fighting against militancy. However, the sources, were reluctant to give the final date of the operation but said it could be any time in next few days and likely before the NATO heads summit meeting in Chicago, which is to be attended by Asif Ali Zardari.
After the military offensive in South Waziristan nearly 3000 militants went into hiding in NW.
According to sources, as the weather is becoming warmer the militants are coming down from mountains and are attacking the army soldiers.
I am sure that once initiated this operation will be taken to its logical conclusion and it must be taken to a logical completion. It is a tough decision and an unpleasant decision but perhaps has become a necessity now. I am sure it will have precision in its execution. However if something or anything could be done to prevent further loss of life it should be considered. Time has come to move further into NW and establish law, order and authority. Pakistan is the only country in the world to have taken down a super power aka Soviet Union. It has in midst of bankcrupting the next super power USA. So we have done more than what most countries can dream of.

So far more than 35,000 civilians lost lives due to terrorism and the faujis were sitting on their asses. Now, only 12 faujis got beheaded and operation is on in NW. What do the khakis think, that pak army is their own fiefdom? brought into action only when khaki's lives are threatened? Why didnt they act earlier? This could have reduced the 35,000 innocent bloody civilians lives!!
I have tremendous respect for the army. I have no respect for kiayani. He is a coward, a loser, a thief and a traitor. Pakistan has never seen a more incompetent army officer than him. List of his failures is long. It would have embarrased any other officer into retirement. Pakistan is proud of its army but ashamed of its chief.

Perception is reality. Under kiayani's leadership, the perception of Pakistan army is one of incompetence. He has made one blunder after another. Because of his inept leadership, the rest of the army is suffering from bad reputation.

Whatever its public postures for people of Pakistan may be, the fact is that Pakistan and its Army have bowed to USA's pressure.
