Three buses were set on fire and five students were arrested in protest against a roadside mishap that claimed life of a student on Monday. According to details, student Muhammed Tabish Aslam fell down from the speedy bus near Dharampura Underpass. The sight of the student’s death triggered fury among the passengers and other students standing at a nearby bus-stop who went on rampage against the mishap. The infuriated demonstrators set on fire three buses including the bus involved in the incident. Tabish was student of Government Technical Institute in the fourth year. According to witnesses, the deceased was hanging from the gate of the over-crowded bus. Losing balance on a sudden movement of the bus, he hit the road and was run over by the rear tires of the bus. Receiving the report of the mishap, police and fire brigade crew arrived on the spot. The students smashed the glasses of the fire-fighting vehicle. However, the demonstrators broke up after the police removed the body from the spot for post mortem. Police registered a case and started investigations into the incident. The protesters demanded the arrest of the driver and conductor of the public Lahore Transport Company bus. Police took custody five students into custody on arson and violence charges, students said.
