Cloth and cut pieces worth millions of rupees were burnt to ashes due to fire caused by electric short circuit in a market here on Sunday. According to rescue sources, electric short circuit caused fire in a cloth shop market located in Ichra. The fire spread rapidly due to cloth and inflammable materials in the shop and engulfed an adjacent cloth shop. The rescue personnel reached the scene and started efforts to extinguish the fire which was brought under control after hectic efforts of two hours. Meantime, cloth and cut pieces worth more than two million rupees were burnt to ashes. The affected clothe merchants have held Wapda responsible for the incident and demanded the provincial government for compensation of their losses.
