CIA claims busting 3 dacoit gangs

LAHORE – The CIA police claims to have busted three inter-district dacoit gangs after arresting its 20 members and recovering stolen valuables worth more than Rs 9.1m from their possession, DIG Investigations Zulfiqar Hameed said in a press conference on Friday. The DIG said that during preliminary investigation, gangsters have confessed to 130 cases of murder, attempts of murder, snatching vehicles and robberies in Lahore, Sheikhupura and Gujranwala.
He said that police also recovered Rs 2.7m in cash, 69 tola gold ornaments, cars, official motorcycles and electronics appliances worth around Rs 9.1m besides illegal weapons including one rifle and 12 pistols. Replying to a question about murder of parents of Justice Javed Iqbal, the DIG said that the third killer Amin has not been arrested yet.
Hameed hoped that police would soon arrest the culprits and said that CIA police are trying their best to complete blind murder and kidnapping for ransom cases. Responding to another question, the DIG told journalist that investigation is underway in case of 15-year-old Qasim Saddique, who allegedly died after falling from an aircraft while attempting to escape to Dubai by hiding in wheel of the plane. Hameed said that it is not confirmed that the deceased had died after falling from the plane. He said that the matter is not a case of murder at least.
1,973 police officers awarded cash prizes: Around 1,973 police officials have been awarded cash prizes and certificates for showing good performance during the last six months. Mujahid Squad SP distributed the cash prizes and certificates amongst the officials and said that good officers were asset of the police department.
