During the meeting of the judicial commission probing the memo scandal on Friday at the Islamabad High Court (IHC) building, Husain Haqqani’s counsel Zahid Bukhari told the commission that Mansoor Ijaz had admitted to have written the memo.
Moreover, Bukhari said that Haqqani had resigned from the position of ambassador voluntarily, adding that his client also wanted a transparent investigation into the issue.
The counsel said Haqqani had complied with every directive of the commission other than the one requiring him to record his testimony in Islamabad. He said Haqqani was still prepared to record his testimony through a video-link.
“Mansoor Ijaz refused to appear before the parliamentary committee” which was looking into the memo scandal, Bukhari said, adding that Haqqani had appeared before that committee.
Responding to which, the commission said that the parliamentary committee was conducting a separate investigation into the subject.
Moreover, the commission said that Haqqani and Ijaz should not be compared as the latter was a foreign national whereas Haqqani was a Pakistani citizen and a former ambassador.
The commission, comprising of three judges, was meeting under the chairmanship of Balochistan High Court (BHC) Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa.
The scandal came to light when Ijaz, an American businessman, accused former Pakistan ambassador to US Husain Haqqani of being behind a memo that accused the Pakistani military of plotting a coup in May and appealed to the Pentagon to help ward it off.

  1. Mansoor Ijaz has just proved himself to be a LYING GREEDY OPPORTUNISTIC DISHONEST thug.

Shame on the Establishment for taking an idiot like him seriously

  2. Being a foreign national, Ijaz has no vested interest in Pakistani politics or govt. setup whereas haqqani stood to benefit tremendously by steup a system that was more to his liking. Ijaz has backed every single claim that he has made with proof. haqqani has lied time and again. He has used every excuse in he book to evade answers or just plain lied. I firmly believe that haqqani is guilty of treason and should be punished for conspiring against the country.

  3. Besides ur pathetic prose, your thinking is regrettfully flawed. How come he does not hv any interest being not-a-Pakistani. He is a big businessman and had been interested in buying PTCL. He claims to have been linked to 22 spy agencies of the world. He has been hungry for publicity for all his life, though he has never been in any official position in USA He claims to be international broker, but failed in his attempts to negotiate every deal he poked himself in. He writes on Pakistan affairs in Pakistani newspapers. In one or the other way, he always keeps involved in Pakistan affairs. He tried to buy financial interests here. What prrof he has? Even RIM did not prove his allegation. You r blinded by hate. .
