Chinese delegation expresses interest in trade relations with PU

An eight member Chinese delegation from the Shenzhen Chamber of E-Commerce called on Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran on Thursday at his office. External Linkages Director Maria Maldonado arranged the meeting in which Media Advisor to Chief Minister Zoha Imam, PU Registrar Khan Rass Masood, PUCIT Principal Prof Dr Syed Mansoor Sarwar were also present.
While briefing the delegation on the varsity’s academic and research developments, Dr Kamran said the Pakistani people had warm feelings for China and were always happy to meet them.
He stated that the volume of trade and interaction could increase between the two countries if the language barrier was removed.
Prof Dr Mansoor Sarwar informed the delegation that the Punjab University College of Information Technology was the largest source of producing quality IT graduates in the country. He informed the delegation about on-going and completed IT-related initiatives taken by the Punjab University administration.
Shenzhen Chamber of E-Commerce Chairwoman Jennifer Tong said the Chinese wanted to explore possible business relationship between the Punjab University and Shenzhen Chamber of E-Commerce. She stated that they could collaborate with the PU in software development and application technology as the chamber came up with feasible solutions to IT related problems and educational issues.
She added that they could give ideas to subsidise and modernise infrastructure.
Later, souvenirs were exchanged among the participants of the meeting.
PUASA President Dr Amir Sarwar, Shenzhen Chamber of E-Commerce General Secretary Yilin Wen, Vice President Minfei Yan, Best Source International CEO Helen Ho, Hueway Technology President and CEO Jackson Zheng, Baykee Electric Equipments CEO Sunny Ye, Shenzhen Fine Chemicals President and CEO Eric Peng and Industrial Investment President Tiger Huang also participated in the meeting.
PUCAD students shine in TDCP competition: Punjab University College of Art and Design students have won awards in the Painting and Photography Competition, 2011 held at the Shahi Hamam by the TDCP.
The students, including Maryam Laique, Aamir Hassan and Farhana Rasheed bagged the first, second and third positions in the painting competition and received Rs 10000, 5000 and 3000 as prize money.
In the photography competition, Awais Ali Sheikh, Abdul Rehman and Shoaib Ahmed won the first, second and third positions and got Rs 10000, 5000 and 3000 respectively.
College Principal Prof Dr Rahat Naveed Masud congratulated the students on their success.
