Three men died and three were seriously injured in two separate incidents on Saturday. Police sources said in the first incident a car going from Kundi to Teri, Banda Daud Shah tehsil, met with an accident in Mardankhel area and two young men Hadaytullah and Shahid died on the spot while their two colleagues identified as Qadir Khan and Arsal Khan sustained critical injuries. The bodies and the injured were immediately shifted to civil hospital Teri where the doctors stated the conditions of injured serious.
They were later referred to a hospital in Kohat. The sources said the incident occurred as the motorcar overturned due to over speeding. Meanwhile, in the second incident a retired bank manager Nawab Khan resident of Taki Mithakhel was washed away by seasonal water nullah while he was crossing it after torrential rain with his nephew on motorcycle. Both were stranded in the water and the local people tried to save their lives but could not save the manager. His motorcycle was also washed away by the gushing water. Arshad was taken to district headquarter hospital from where he was relieved after first aid. The local people said the cause of the accident was absence of a culvert on the water channel and demanded that a culvert be constructed on the nullah in the under construction road. Meanwhile dozens of houses in Shamshaki, Dora Algadda and Walay Banda partially damaged by the heavy downpour but fortunately no lose of life has been reported. It was also learnt that dozens of cattle and hundreds of hens and chicken were killed by the rain coupled with hailstorm in the hilly areas of Zarakhel, Channikhel, Daraki Banda and Kandokhel. A big portion of lands have been eroded by the gushing water in Ghundi Mir Khankhel and Badeen Khel areas.
