The Supreme Court’s conviction of Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani of contempt of court sparks anger among the pro-government lawyers and Pakistan People’s Party’s workers who tried to march towards the residence of Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.
After the SC judgement, PPP MPA Nargis Faiz Malik along with around 200 PPP workers staged a protest demonstration against the judiciary. They also tried to go towards the resident of the CJP but police stopped them to do so after which they burnt tyres in front of the local hotel. Dozens of pro-government lawyer staged a protest demonstration against the Supreme Court decision of convicting PM Gilani of contempt of court.
The protest was led by son of the governor of Punjab, Advocate Khurram Latif Khosa while the lawyers from Rawalpindi and Multan also participated in the demonstration.
Meanwhile, the arrival of Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani before the seven-member bench of the Supreme Court on Thursday not only appear to be a embarrassing for the premier, himself, but once again created a large number of problems for the litigants and commuters who visits the red zone for their routine works.
As Gilani had to appear before the court, the law enforcement agencies of the capital city sealed most of the roads leading towards the SC. “Only those who have special entry passes, to attend the contempt of court proceedings against Gilani, were allowed to enter the SC premises and on the other hand people, who came their to appear in their own cases, also found it hard to enter the superior court premises.”

  1. Avoid confontration with any agitation agaisnt the verdicts of SC,otherwise the patriotic and faithful citizens of Pakistan will come out to face these foriegn aided ppp activists.America,Jews and India will be very happy to see Pakistan fighting with each other.so do not give them any chance to say and harm Pakistan.Gilani is not an angel,he is a human being and he is convicted ,he must resign.but he is so helpless and bound to Zardari that he cannot come out from his grips. At this moment ppp government volantarily step down to avoid further bledshed in the country and give up their NEGATIVE ATTITUDE towards Democracy and do not put Pakistan in trouble.PPP is the corruptest political party in Pakistan. We request to the Chief Justice of Supreme Court of Pakistan to ban the activities of ppp in the country immediately.otherwise the country will face bledshed and anarchy as our enemies are very keen to see pakistan in those bad conditions. It is in the best interest of the country to ban PPP,ANP and MQM LIVE TIME BAN.Their activities are anti-Pakistan.

  2. PPP thugs have proven to be better than the thugs of PML"Nawaz Shareef." Under this democratic government the trial of PM went on and the Apex court convicted him. Compare it with the democratic govt of Mr Nawaz Shareef who didn't allow the supreme court to conduct the hearing against Nawaz Sharif and sent the thugs who conquered the building by physically capturing it making the Chief Justic Sajjad Ali Shah to run for his life. Pakistan's emancipation lies not in shooting a few thugs belonging to the PPP. In order to save this country all the thugs in all the political parties including the PML (N) needs to be eliminated.

  3. Remember…the first election of Bush jr..counting in the State of Florida was flawed & Al Gore was the winner & EC conceded it…but was challened & the SC of America heard the case & the case was favored to G Bush….nor Al Gore ( appealed although he could do so ) nor any Republican supporters created a scene like ppp supporters doing…when are we going to learn when we claim to be following a democratic system ? unless our leaders follow the rule of law, how can we expect others to do same…even in India, they respect SC decisions & do not act or issues statement like our govt is doing…..nor do the govt in power encourages their supporters to attack CJ house nor protests & destroy public property etc; so grow up ppp jiyalas…become more civilised & accept the rule of law & set an example for others to follow same….

  4. Do not blame these people for rioting. Such people irrespective any political party "do not have ears but bellies' they have fears and anxities and nothing to look forward to then to please the people who have stepped in to fill the vacum created by the state.
