Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Shumaila Rana, who was allegedly involved in a credit card scandal, has rejoined the Punjab Provincial Assembly on a reserved seat. She had to resign from the provincial assembly seat in 2009, when one of her female friends accused her of stealing and using her credit card. On Tuesday, the Election Commission of Pakistan declared Shumaila as a returned candidate on a seat reserved for provincial assembly of Punjab.
A senior official of the ECP told Pakistan Today that Shumaila had resigned from her seat in 2009 after the credit card scandal. Later, a court had cleared her of the charges. Meanwhile, the ECP also declared PML-N candidates Shaheen Shafiq and Seema Mohiuddin Jameeli returned candidates on seats reserved for women in the National Assembly. These two seats were vacated by Mamoona Hashmi and Nuzhat Amir Sadiq.
Actually Punjab prosecution department which is under the Shahbaz Sharif presented a very weak case that resulted in her acquittal. The evidence against her was very strong including CCTV footage and calls made by her to the credit card company. But the prosecution dept deliberately withheld important evidence during the trial that resulted in her acquittal. Until prosecution is not made independent and non-partisan, such crooks will continue to be set free by our guardian politicians.
I dnt think pml n did anything to save her,nor court is fool to not understand the situation.I will not argue over whether she did or not but one thing is on record ,pml n dsnt own such ppl ,pml n threw out fiaz timman and jazzi khan for fake degrees but both were welcomed by the so called tehreek e insaaf.
