Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said despite financial constraints‚ the present government has spent unprecedented Rs 1.5 trillion on the development projects.
Addressing a seminar on role of International NGOs here on Monday‚ he pointed out that Pakistan is facing the challenges of extremism and terrorism, besides having its economy affected by the natural disasters. In these circumstances‚ the role of NGOs is crucial to offset their impact, he said.
The PM said that according to the damage need assessment‚ Pakistan suffered a loss of about ten billion dollars in addition to human loss in the recent floods.
Appreciating the NGOs for joining the government in the hour of trial‚ he said the government remains committed to complete rehabilitation of affected areas.
Gilani said that no country can attain prosperity unless the affluent section of the society comes forward and lends a helping hand in the pro-people initiatives.
He said the concept of self reliance at the community level was crucial to the narrative of development. The NGOs role in sensitizing the society to take care of its less unfortunate section is important as well as desirable, he said.

  1. On top of all these clamamity. Pakistan is victim of massive damage inflicted by Zaradri, you, your family and you cronies. This wil be written in history of Pakistan

  2. Yes it has & the president & PM have alone taken about 50% of it for their 'projects'. Like getting their sons married off, which would bring so much prosperity to the country.
