Gusty winds turn weather pleasant

Dust-thunderstorm and gusty winds blowing on Thursday evening turned weather of the federal capital pleasant, reducing the intensity of hot weather conditions prevailing for the last few days. Talking to APP, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) director general said a western disturbance is affecting most parts of the country and likely to persist for next 2-3 days.
He said there are chances of heavy rain in DG Khan division of southern Punjab, Zhob of Balochistan and DI Khan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during next 24 hours. These rains can cause flash flooding in the local rivers/streams of the area.
This westerly weather system is likely to prevail in most parts of the country till Saturday. Dust-thunderstorm and light rain is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi division, and adjoining areas during next 24 hours.
The Met DG said that the prevailing weather system can affect the crops as the wheat harvesting is in process in most parts of Punjab. However, gusty winds can damage the mango crop which is at initial stage of growth especially in Multan and Shujabad in southern parts of Punjab.
According to met analysis, rain/dust-thunderstorm is expected at Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad and Multan divisions during next 24 hours.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain/dust-thunderstorm is expected at scattered places of KPK; Bannu, Kohat and D.I.Khan divisions while at isolated places of Malakand, Hazara and Peshawar divisions during next 24 hours. Mostly cloudy weather is expected in most parts of Sindh, however rain/dust-thunderstorm is expected at isolated places of lower Sindh while isolated heavy falls in Northeast Balochistan and Makran division during next 24 hours. In Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, mostly partly cloudy weather is likely however, isolated rain/thunderstorm may prevail in GB tonight. The maximum temperature recorded during last 24 hours was Chorr, Mithi and Badin 38 øC. The maximum temperatures were Islamabad 32 C, Lahore 32 C, Quetta 23 C, Karachi 36 C, Peshawar 35 C, Muzaffarabad 30 C, Gilgit 30 C, Murree 19 C, Multan 32 C and Faisalabad 33øC.
