KESC ISSUES ‘RAINY PLAN’: The Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) has advised the general public to follow maximum safety measures during the predicted heavy rains in respect of electricity-related hazards.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the KESC stated that it has taken all preparatory steps in view of the forecasted rains.
Public awareness on rain hazards, reinforcement at control rooms and call centres, setting up emergency maintenance teams and coordination with various related government agencies at local levels are a few salient features of KESC’s rain preparedness plan.
The KESC advised the citizens not to touch water-soaked or fallen electricity wires, electric poles and to stay away from standing rainwater pools.
The general public should immediately inform the utility’s call centre 118 if they confront a rain-related emergency
While driving, the KESC stated, the citizens needed to make sure the windshield wipers are working, reduce speed, be aware of falling trees, which could fall due to wind or lightning, turn-on emergency flashers, not to touch any metal objects in the car and avoid driving on slippery roads.
