One dead, three injured in roof collapse

A 30-year-old labourer died and three others sustained injuries when the roof of a factory caved in at Kot Abdul Malik area in Shahdara police limits on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Anwar. According to the details, four labourers namely Anwar, Basheer, Javed and Maqsood stuck into the debris when the roof of a factory, used for thread making, collapsed.
However, the rescue teams shifted them to a nearby hospital where the doctors pronounced Anwar as dead. The body was handed over to the bereaved family after police completed necessary medico-legal formalities. The incident had also created panic in the locality.
FIRE: Goods and valuables worth million of rupees were reduced to ashes when fire broke out in two go downs situated in separate areas of the city on Thursday. Fire brigades of the Civil Defence, Rescue-1122 and City District Government reached the spots and extinguished the fire. No loss of life was reported. The rescue officials said fire had erupted in a go down of scrap in Misri Shah and rice store in Kahna. As a result, goods worth million of rupees were reduced to ashes.
GANG BUSTED: Civil Lines Police Thursday busted a notorious criminal gang involved in several criminal acts of different natures in Punjab Capital. Civil Lines SHO Inspector Abid Rasheed said three members of Daani gang have been successfully arrested red handed shortly after they were planning to rob another home. He said the arrested robbers identified as ringleader Adnan alias Daani, Ali Raza alias Bholi and Hamza have confessed to committing at least 19 robberies including motorbikes theft.
According to the modus operandi, the robbers used to unlock motorbikes parked in parking lots in markets, outside banks and homes and from other points of the city. Rasheed further said they sold the parts of the motorbikes in spare parts market of Bilal Ganj. During preliminary interrogation, the accused men confessed to committing crimes in Civil Lines, Racecourse, Qila Gujjar Singh, Garhi Shahu, Mozang, Lytton Road, New Anarkali, Lohari, Bhati Gate and Lower Mall police areas. He said police have also recovered four motorbikes, master keys, and other tools of robbing from their possession. According to the Lahore Police spokesman, the DIG (Operations) Ghulam Mahmood Dogar and SP Civil Lines, Omer Saeed Malik, have announced cash prizes and commendatory certificates for the police team.
GAMBLER NABBED: At least 10 alleged gamblers were booked and arrested red handed from Hanif Park in Badamibagh police area on Thursday. Police said cell phones, betting money and other valuables have been recovered from their possession. The arrested were identified as Amir Gujjar, Nazim Gujjar, Abdul Karim, Farhan, Zaffar Iqbal, Kamran and etc. Later, the same police raided another fake factory of mobile making at Noor Road and arrested the owner Muhammad Tahir. A case has been lodged against him. Further investigations were underway.
