LAHORE – The Pakistan Rugby Union on Wednesday announced the calendar for the year 2011.
Addressing a press conference here, PRU secretary Arif Saeed said that Pakistan was placed in Division-III and in the coming years they would drive their way into the second and first divisions. PRU President Fawzi Khawaja was also present on the occasion.
Arif Saeed explained how the PRU has increased the number and type of rugby events taking place this year and will cover all aspects of rugby.
Fawzi Khawaja said: “PRU will be consternating on both aspects of the games Rugby 15 and Rugby 7s. Rugby 15 is being the traditional sports and rugby 7s which is gaining increasing popularity having being introduced in Olympics from 2016 Olympics and also being part of Asian Games and Common Wealth Games.
He said the PRU has decided to make 2011 as the year of rugby and has planned activities at all junior, senior, varsity, provincial and departmental level.
“Navy and Sindh Association will be hosting the Inter-department Championship, in which five departments will take part including Army, Police, Wapda, Railways and Navy.
