Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has condemned the unabated bloodshed of innocent people in Quetta, Gilgit and Karachi in sectarian violence and termed it a conspiracy to drive a wedge between the followers of different religious schools of thought.
“The elements involved in instigating sectarian strife and killings of innocent people are working on an agenda to spoil the environment of peace, harmony and brotherhood,” he said through a statement. “Those fanning the fire of sectarian feuds are enemies of the country and must be dealt with strongly.”
Hussain said the country is passing through a precarious situation and it is the need of the hour to forge unity, harmony and brotherhood among the people.
He appealed to the religious scholars of different sects to preach tolerance, patience and brotherhood in their sermons and asked the people not to get provoked by any incendiary incident and remain peaceful.
The MQM leader extended heartfelt sympathies to the families of the victims killed in the sectarian violence in Quetta, Gilgit and Karachi.
He appealed to President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani and Interior Minister Rehman Malik to take action against the terrorists involved in sectarian violence.
Meanwhile, the MQM Rabita Committee strongly condemned the murder of Imran Haider Zaidi, the vice principal of the Jinnah Polytechnic Institute, in an incident of firing on April 17.
The members of the committee termed it a part of a vicious conspiracy to foment sectarian violence in Karachi.
They demanded Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Wasan to take serious notice of the unfortunate incident.
They also called for urgent steps to bring the culprits to book, offered condolence to the bereaved family members, and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.

  1. Look Pakistan Today why you keep showing this portrait picture of this megalomaniac. Look at his style as if he is the most beloved leader in the universe. Never seen a hypocrite like him. He issues a statement condemning sectarian killing. He is responsible for ethnic murders in Karachi, He is holding Karachi hostage. He has managed to deceive or in other words fooled western powers to convince them that he is a secular and liberal leader and the only custodian of Karachi city and he can look after their interests.
