Aitzaz Ahsen, counsel for Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani in the contempt of court proceedings against him, on Wednesday said parliament enjoyed the authority to undo or reverse any decision of the Supreme Court and bring amendment in the constitution.
Talking to reporters after adjournment of the contempt case at the Supreme Court premises, Aitzaz said the judges who framed contempt charge against the premier could not hear the contempt case.
He said the Supreme Court’s decision would be implemented in letter and spirit.
Aizaz said when Asif Ali Zardari would not be the president of Pakistan‚ letter should be written and law should be fully exercised.
He said the president was a symbol of the federation and no one would like to humiliate a president.
To queries, he said being a sovereign forum, the parliament could undo any judicial decision, besides amending the constitution. He said the parliament could also reverse the court’s decision by bringing an amendment in the constitution.
He dispelled the impression that the prime minister was only defending the office of the president.
To a question, he said he was not employing delaying tactics to give the case undue length.
He is telling the SC an obvious constitutional principle:-)..

aittzaz has put all his eggs in one basket with the hopes that he can get gillani into jail and he himself will present himself as the alternative.
That wouldn't be that bad. Anyone would be better than Gilani.
We just need to make sure PPP doesnt come back EVER. That can only be done by hanging Zardari, Gilani along with their sons.
One the so-called vociferous claimant of being the passionate defender of Judiciary Restoration Movement has stooped so low for his personal aggrandizement agenda & has unleashed a series of calculated innuendoes & accusations against the same respected judiciary. The wings of anything & everyone who can fly higher than him or his masters have to be clipped.
Such a disappointed show of pursuit of personal goals Mr. Ahsan at the cost of national interest………….. dismally selfish stuff.
If nawaz Shariff was gud leader, his govt wud not hv continously ignored developing other areas of Punjab especially South.This is not a quality of a visionary leader.For the first time & last time in the history of this country PML N won with majority in their 2nd term..what did they do ? if they were sincere, many of the old ineffective laws cud hv been changed to benefit the poor.Baluchistan problem cud hv been resolved bcz PML N was in majority in all the 4 province.On its last leg thet gheraoed the SC & begged for " dollar bhego mulk bachao " yellow cab scheme failed then & now again, danish school = 60,000 primary schools.sasti roti scheme failed, laptop to few thousands = unfed million mouths in Lahore alone.Keeping 18 minstries by Shabaz Sb = no trust on others…this no way for austerity, if argued & the list can go on…
