‘Cash-strapped’ LUMS forces students to pay through their stomachs!

What should have been any other normal day at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) turned out to be the day when the university’s sole subsidised eating place, Pepsi Dining Centre (PDC) was boycotted by the majority of students in face of an unprecedented price hike of 33 percent just after seven months, Pakistan Today learnt on Monday.
On April 2, the LUMS Administration Department held a meeting with the PDC Committee to find ways to ‘control the deficit’ due to ‘ongoing inflation in prices of food items used in PDC’. The meeting then decided to implement the revised rates from April 5 and an email, without the new price list, was sent to the students.
This lack of transparency did not go unnoticed and one of the students, an Accounting and Finance major, whose queries were widely lauded, sent an email to the university’s email list, asking that the students be given an explanation for why PDC was not able to meet its cost even after serving over 3,000 people.
The student also asked that if the food that is leftover ‘comes up in the menu three days later’, LUMS was essentially not facing any loss.
Understanding that the alleged 33 percent price hike would ‘generate (concern) among many students’, LUMS Office of the Student Affairs Head Mazhar Chinoy assured the students’ body that he had checked the finances of PDC, and claimed they were facing a significant loss and were not even breaking even.
“The price hike should not really come as a huge surprise…current food inflation in Pakistan is estimated to be between 38-42 percent,” Chinoy added.
“What is of the main concern is that PDC standards have really fallen so we do not see the reason for a hike,” said a student, asking not to be named, adding “Incidents of hair, screws, cockroaches and rubber bands in our food are normal.
Main course meal finishes way before the set time, there is no cold water, ACs and fans are not turned on deliberately and the serving sizes have also decreased. They’re already making up for the loss by pulling such stunts, why raise prices then?”
Some students also pointed to the lack of staff and change at the PDC, while others said the staff does not even do as much as ‘give them extra tissue paper’. Another student said the ‘bureaucratic’ structure of PDC and the lack of competition had made the administration complacent, which necessarily meant that the place was a tyranny, adding that ‘nobody liked PDC’s food’ and the students were being ‘forced’ to eat it since there was no place else to go.
The discussion on the students’ email was then cut short by Chinoy, who asked the students to not to digress and to stop emailing, ‘please’.
However, soon enough, a Facebook page titled ‘Boycott PDC Day’, with over a 1,000 confirmed attendants, was set up and the debate was taken there.
Chinoy’s move of deterring the students from taking part in “student action (that) is not part of this university’s tradition” when there was “a council available to make student positions known in a civilised manner,” did not go down too well with the students either, who questioned why boycotting was dubbed ‘uncivilised’ by Chinoy when they were not burning tyres or breaking things.
The ‘puppet’ LUMS Student Council then emailed an ‘irrelevant’ report, that suggested ‘hilarious’ reasons for the problems being faced by the students, one of which dubbed the chef’s Rs 12,000 income the reason for bad food quality.
“The proposal is typical-Pakistani, all words and no action,” a student said.
Chinoy, however, doused all fire with water when he said, “a price hike cannot be helped” and all efforts would be made to mitigate it.
“We try our best not to let the effects of the inflation reach the students,” an officer in the LUMS administration, asking not to be named, said, adding “but this time there is no option left. We aren’t even breaking even.”
“LUMS generally is cash-strapped. Fee has been raised, the National Outreach Programme students’ monthly stipend has also been decreased so has the percentage of students studying on financial aid,” another official said, adding “many highly-paid instructors have left and fresh graduates have been hired to cut expenses also. Inflation hits everyone in the country, including LUMS and it’s the students that will have to pay for it eventually.”

  1. Poorly written article!! Fabricated thoughts were presented as facts. Most of the points were exaggerated description of reality and most importantly the author herself wasn't there when the whole incident happened which tells the credibility of the whole article.

  2. Tajwar Awan, the infamous anti-PDA crusader from the batch of 2011 is it! Poorly written and a little exaggerated especially as far as the hygiene goes. But perhaps true as far as the unjustified price hike and the deteriorating quality of the faculty!

  3. Such a Biased name – Even though chinoy explains that food inflation is between 32-48 – the title of article is very biased and inciteful. I think Tajwar is still taking revenge on LUMS admin for letting her down in the PDA thing.

  4. This author can't really be trusted concerning how accurate and and unbiased this report is given her history of moral panic and anti-PDA hysteria. Granted this is an important topic, but the way it's written shows shoddy journalism with no attempt to hide an inherent bias. Next try try less hysteria and sensationalism and more objective reporting, please. Thank you!

    • hmmm… i guess that PDA hysteria was a different issue. and you are complaining that she is biased; by the way you are also judging her and her article on the basis of long-forgotten past events — that is also considered biased.
the points she has raised here are genuine. I have seen the majority of LUMS' students complaining about this.

  5. The pertinent question is how come that in the business institute, like Lums, the management and so-called Student council are unable to provide specific details for the price hike like 33%.If PDC,is actually running loss,it can put up a monthly profit and loss statement which can make the students understand basis of this unusal price hike?.An attempt to wrap up or buldooze the protest, by Chinoy,is uncalled for and unreasonable.

    • this is one of the major issues. these stupid teenagers can't get over the fact that somebody punctured LUMS' ego.

      • we love our university. and its true we cant stand anyone who criticizes it. if we have a problem, we will speak up ourselves. if we need help we will contact the media ourselves. you stupid retards should try to mind your own damn business. just because you have nothing to love and fight over, don't criticize the rest for standing up for something.

  6. And PT should better avoid wasting space catering to trivial issues from the minuscule elite and focus on the more important ones!

  7. You guys should banned from covering any LUMS event. Pathetic journalism! You guys try to be neo-Tribune and appear to be worst. Sad! I supported the ban, but how this article is written is pathetic!

  8. I am a LUMS student and I did not see any boycott yesterday. I ate there and it was as full as ever.

    • have a look at the comments and posts on the page "boycott pdc" and in addition, have a closer look at the e-mails on student events

      • Facebook page likes aren't equal to real mobilization, something that most virtual crusaders don't understand! Piece of advice don't over-estimate the power of social networking sites and much less the so called revolutions propelled by them! Waise bhi put anything populist on the web and people will swoon over it Mr. Reader you need to stop reading and step out a little!

        • I believe that I have not over-estimated the social-network. It is a way of communicating the thoughts of the people at a collective level and that is what was done through the page “Boycott PDC”. The revolution lies in the minds and hearts and minds and mind and hearts need an outlet… a way of communication. Piece of advice, don’t see the number of swooning masses but see the motivation behind that move. the thing that urged them to unite and protest, that’s what brings the “real mobilization”. and facebook page likes are a way of expressing the common thought, the collective message. an emblem of unity.

and you might have noticed that recently facebook and twitter have been used by the great leaders of the world to unite their followers. If Pope Benedict can use twitter to strengthen the belief of the believers and Chief Francis Kariuki — or, @Chiefkariuki ( https://twitter.com/#!/Chiefkariuki ) can use twitter to maintain law and order situation in his tribe, then “Boycott PDC” is such a trivial issue and you say that social networks are not good enough for it. Pity.

        • LOL. so imran khan reached where he did in your dream? come out of stone age muby. and get a life.

  9. It is more important to know why LUMS as an institution is running on loss. LUMS pays heavy rent to a Trust which owns its real estate. If the matter is investigated, there is every possibility that a biggest scam involving our so-called philanthropist Seths is unearthed.

    • I absolutely agree. unjustified price-hikes. rejecting financial aid applications. increasing the fee. firing LUMS staff (Imrana Lashari-the lums counselor) and more and more stuff that needs to be unearthed.

  10. the same siprit is expected from the general public ,when the prices of the consumable items increased, they totally boycot all these items for at at least one day,Inshaha Allah the whole nation will get the relief.be pateint and one day boycot all the items unitedly, there will be fruitful results lateron.

for Allah`s be united and voluntarily make positive decision will be coming shortly.

  11. This is a ridiculous article. Since when is cafeteria food anywhere in the world deemed to be wonderful? Everyone hates cafeteria food, full stop. The LUMS admin does what they can to subsidise prices, but at the end of the day, the whole nation is going through price hikes and inflating costs of food. When the homeless are having to pay more for their daal roti, I'm sure LUMS students can be asked to spend a little more too. For goodness sake Tajwar, find something else in life to do other than bash LUMS repeatedly.

    • please note, the newspaper or the reporter DID NOT raise prices. LUMS did. if tajwar needs to get over LUMS, you need to go back to it to learn how to reach logical conclusions. Logic with Shabis Ahsen will do the trick. go take it.

      • Ok seriously, maybe YOU should go back to LUMS and take Writing and Communication. Freshman year, first quarter. Since when did I say the newspaper or reporter raised prices? Stop arriving at moronic conclusions just because you don't agree with my comment. I don't care about Tajwar, I care about why idiotic people talk about insignificant issues and waste our time. There are a lot more serious issues out there to tackle. Daal costing 10 rupees more is not exactly earth shattering news.

  12. What a misleading title. Like the only way for Lums dealing with its cash issues is by raising prices in its cafetaria. Yeah, if you raise 20 rupees on the daal, the uni will not be cash strapped anymore. Stupid article.

  13. Is this a joke? The writer is dumb. Is the only way for a uni to deal with its cash problems is by raising prices in its cafeteria? HUAHAHAHA. What nonsense.

  14. Dont shoot the messenger!

I think it is un-justified for a bunch of loons to attack the writer simply because she disapproved of the PDA's – like the rest of Pakistan – local culture, local religion, customs and norms do.

These loons are requested to take the first flights back to their intellectual hometown's in the US.

    • go back to your stupid cave taliban. regardless of the pda scene, this article is really biased. i know because i am a luminite. i supported the boycott. and it was only because of half the reasons that are listed in this article. this shouldnt even be called an article. its more like a blog. its a good example of the "great" standards of journalism in pakistan today

    • Intellectual hometowns in the U.S? lol how immature are you man? People who hold different views than the mullah inspired bunch here are supposed to go live in the U.S? Then I suppose all American maulvis and British radical Islamists should come and rot here? Just because you think something is wrong doesn't necessarily make it wrong. If you object to something, don't do it. Stop imposing your own views on others.

      • Lovely response!Agreeing with a Maya Khan type of attitude doesn't make you a tolerant person loon-exterminator.It makes you the complete opposite!

  15. Cornetto is still selling at the same price. That’s all what boys need for their skinny girlfriends.

  16. It is a shitttttt article, I have been eating at PDC for 3 years now, but I have never seen a Cockroach or rubber-band or whatever, you mentioned in my food, it is plain nice food. I am just half way through the article, let's see what comes more.

Just to add, Yes! Prices have escalated, you can mention it, but don't lie to the world!

  17. HAHA all those i've seen doing PDA are the ones who are cursing the writer for this article. ouch. she still has your never and just walked all over it again, after quiet a few years.

FACTUALLY this article is perfect. go open your campusmail and see. this is EXACTLY how things happened.

get out of your cheap biases. All LUMS has taught you is how to be arrogant.

    • i dont remember ever receiving a mail about cockroaches and stuff in the food. if that is true than, that person should have immediately reported it as well as taken some proof. like maybe a photograph. and even if the mails have been used, the use of language can also serve bias to what really happened. the only thing your substandard university ever taught you is retardedness.

    • So you have personally seen all those who have replied here? Get a life dude! And yeah, get a better hobby.
I wasn't in LUMS when Tajwar was here, fortunately, but anyone who reads this would know how unprofessional this article is. Cockroaches and rubber bands? haha seriously?

    • cant u see pure exaggeration in the article? How many cockroaches have you eaten by the way. Come to senses plz…

  18. So the hooligans that are commenting here are the kind of people LUMS raises? wow. did your mommys not teach you a thing as simple as BEHAVE YOUR SELF and learn how to disagree decently?

  19. LUMS, as an institution, has failed to give its students a sense of mutual and compassion. The debate under this article here is an example of the kind of people who study at that godforsaken place. They have no sense of local culture, of morals and of respect. I think we as a nation need to stop such institutes from existing because they are rearing animals who will take up important positions and then torture and inflict pain on everything that comes in their way. That place SHOULD be closed down if the people commenting on this article are the kind of people it is making.

    • Shutting down things isnt the solution! Ever noticed even the people who do not go to LUMS or such 'godforsaken' places lack 'sense of local culture, of morals and of respect'? Exactly. Come up with a better solution!

  20. Such an Over-Exaggeration!!! "SCREWS AND COCKROACHES" in the food???? O Come On Lady!!!!!!!!!

There were issues ofcourse, but this article, from no where, gives a whole new horrible impression of how much misery the LUMS students are in these days. Get a life friend!

  21. Sooo childish of you Tajwar!! Grow up and plz try to learn atleast a little bit of jouralism… Otherwise dont you even dare to write about LUMS again…..

  22. For clarification purposes: she was from the batch of 2010. 2011 was cool! 😉
and yes i think the article is too exaggerated and in any case such a news shouldn't even be making it to PT.
It is true that the prices at PDC should be controlled and decreased. and even the students questioning this price hike are justified. totally acceptable. but one should NEVER be so insensitively critical towards any nation or institution one belongs to so openly. no matter how many differences we have within any given framework and you criticize to improve things, but you always defend it outside. so it's sad to see a Luminite herself write this awful story. how is this going to help the LUMS students in any way?

    • oh yar! see the campusmail. she has quoted students mail. she hasn't fabricated anything. LUMS is going through a financial crisis and it is actually doing things like raising fees, rejecting financial aid and firing staff (imrana lashari- lums counselor was fired a few days ago). come to reality

      • i am very much in reality. you are quoting campusmail as if that is the most authentic source ever. if u r actually familiar with it, you would know everyone just says everything out there. and in any case, why bring campusmail discussions here? we have hundreds and thousands of organizations discussing their own challenges? everything is not supposed to make headlines!
and my friend, accepted that LUMS is going thru a financial crisis, no questions asked. every protest and criticism justified. as everyone suffers. but why such a one-sided story? and if according to you, it is ACTUALLY going through a severe financial crisis, then all the price hikes, firings, financial aid rejections are justified, aren't they?

  23. i ate at pdc and a rubber band DID come out of my biryani. what are all of you talking about. stop defending the garbage we are fed every day.

  24. i ate at PDC and a rubber band DID come out of my briyani. the hair in the samosa story is very common. what are all of you talking about? stop defending the garbage we are fed daily.

  25. Knowing both the PDA incident and this, i can safely say that the people commenting here are twisted and biased. They are probably the ones who Tajwar got dc-ed for not knowing how to engage in a 'civil' debate and they are looking at this comment space as a battle ground to bring her down. rest assured, it won't work. everyone knows who you are. please, go home and cry on your mommy's shoulder. don't kill the point of this article by your useless bullcrap.

    • I agree with vigli! So much for the writer being biased, when all we have against "her" is what "she" wrote 3 yrs ago as a student! Whose being biased here? People who personally know the writer and so personally attack her, and there brains cant get over their constipation with "Talibans" and "mullas". If it's exaggerated, put your finger on it, tell people what's exaggerated , and what makes this bad journalism – SPELL IT- and remember to give proof other than the fact that you just "HATE" the writer- rather than whining like imbeciles, and making sweeping generalizations, copy-pasting off each others comments to get the numbers high! People need to double-check their double standards, hate, and biases. Personally attacking the writer, not bothering with what is actually stated reflects more on the people commenting than the writer of the article. I don't know about financial loses, but LUMS (which I love no less) seems to have experienced the gravest losses at it's failure to inculcate in its graduates even the ability to engage in simple and civilized debate and discussion. And then we sit and blame the govt.!

  26. Not everyone feels like sucking up to you luminites. serves you right. you DESERVE the crap you are fed.

  27. ahm! so u guys are the "future of Pakistan correction Middle East"!! I mean, kommon, give me a break, at least, ppl from LUMS should have known the "protocols" to discuss "difference of opinion"!! One guy over here is not happy with the cornettos offered by his colleagues to the chicks! A few other have turned against the writer!! Yet another gentleman has some fuzzy reservations against the Orthodox mullahs vs Liberal fascist debate!! Where is the solution ladies & gentlemen!! Writing an article is not something wrong. LUMS carries every write to publish a rebuttal in this same newspaper and neutralize the issue!! For goodness sake, keep your debate positive & think outside of all you pre-graduation prejudices !!

  28. absolutely true and extremely well written!!! being a LUMS student myself i can witness that all that is written actually did happen 🙁

  29. Dear END
I hope you can channel your jealousy and inferiority complex in more productive ways. LOL

  30. This is a gross misrepresentation of facts. This has nothing to do with LUMS being cash-strapped. Money earned by the PDC is not given to LUMS. PDC just breaks even, no profits.

  31. LUMS admin should sue this writer and Pakistan Today for publishing this ridiculous article. Pakistan Today should realize its responsibility of being a news paper and should not publish articles without any proper proof.

    • sue her! sue tajwar awan, who was actually an exceptionally bright student of LUMS. and mr. LUMINITE let me tell you that free media is the key to success. oppressors like you don't let the facts reach the public and evoke havoc. shame!

  32. okay so most of us lumunites know about the tajwar dilemma, I am even willing to grant that what she did then was shallow. But come on guys, you are criticising this article just for the sake of criticism. I am not saying this is an out of the world article, but it isn't really that bad either. You guys and your comments are biased. The article is not bad at all.

@TAJWAR, woman, you SHOULD have left the lovers alone. Aik din tumhain bhi koi boy phasana hai..usi waqt ka soch laiti. but article bura nahee hai, dekha kam karo, likha zyada karo.

  33. Absolutely Ridiculous journalism. Although problems were there and us the students acted against them but we will never appreciate somebody telling whole world about it. And secondly most of the problems have been taken care of.

  34. it appears that the pseudo-prestigious luminites cannot handle the embarrassment this article, albeit not an exceptional one, brings to their fake egos about an institution they're falsely proud of. Personal grudges are so obvious in the comments here against the author. While a lot of people quietly agree that there is some problem with the eatery, they fail to conceal their ego about their institution which sucks in many ways. So much so, it couldn't even teach its students how to criticize properly. Shame on you LUMINITES!

    • oh really? could you please elaborate a few of those ways man?
First, I am a proud Luminite, proud not in an arrogant sense, but in a positive sense, that i had the opportunity to study there and secondly that having gained an immense amount of knowledge, i can somehow share it with others.
Secondly, yes LUMS is like home to me. And no one would ever like that the problems at their homes should be discussed in public, no matter how many differences exist.
I would definitely not say to you that "the grapes are sour" coz then there'll be no difference between my comment and yours.
and i ask you what if this was a negative article about the problems in our country published in an international newspaper by a Pskistani and someone from another country had written what you wrote. think about it and then read you comment again. lemme know how you feel. 🙂

  35. HAHAHAAHA someone get Tajwar a date, please…chill out woman. quit shrieking. be moderate in your reporting at least if you can't be that in your views.

  36. The article is extremely biased. Tajwar you seriously need to get on with your life and should leave LUMS. After reading this article, it felt like you were taking out some sort of revenge from LUMS as if it did something terrible for you.
Going through your facebook profile, I gathered, you are a hardcore PTI fan, hence the trolling tendencies in your article. You are extremely nationalist and hate MQM. You have no rationales for what you believe in; you are just following the rest of the herd. In short, you are just an average misguided Pakistani who is taking out her frustration by bringing down LUMS as it goes against your believes, as it being funded by USAID and having many anti-PTI people.
    Have fun Tajwar.

    • OMGGGGG!!!! ziddi kuri, so everyone is just their Facebook right? That's what constitues their life. really find a job, or something better to do. better yet, go into therapy for crazy stalking tendencies.

    • I am afraid you are being biased sir/madam.
Tajwar has no grudge against LUMS, infact she is just doing her job. Her article might have suggested a biased tune but that is because the facts are so horrible and she has reported them as it is. being a student of LUMS, i personally confirm the facts about poor hygiene and unjustified price-hike. LUMS is going through a financial crisis. it is raising fee, rejecting a lot of deserving financial aid applications, and actually firing staff (the lums counselor was fired a few days ago because LUMS could not afford to pay her).
tajwar has reported the facts. and all theses are genuine issues

  37. What is amazing is the SHEER POWER tajwar enjoys over all of you. i have never met her, now i want to. she sent an email and the WORLD went mad, she wrote an article and the WORLD went mad again. WOW. I guess she is sitting somewhere and laughing at all of you :O

Like someone said earlier, she is arguably one of the bravest women of our times. She will go a long way and all of you will keep sweeping after her, the way you are doing now. And from your lack of manners, this is trully what you deserve.

    Bravo, tajwar. God bless you.

  38. LOL @ziddikuri, look at you. so you went spying on her also? i agree with rationalLUMS. she has YOU trolled woman. why don't you go meet tajwar and try to understand her better instead of writing your PHD thesis on her facebook page. she doesn't even know that you exist and you have all her life sorted out apparently. how creepy :s

  39. WE LOVE TAJWWARRRRRRRRRRR. if you are reading this tajwar, know that we love you and that we love the fact that you stand up for what is right, no matter what the backlash against your person. only people like you can bring about change that this goddamned country needs.

  40. Baber awan enjoyed the height of favour from the man sitting on hill. Then faced his ultimate fate. He is now wandering here and there. Next comes Aitzaz. Certainly he is defending his client to save the real beneficiary– the man sitting on hill. Let s wait how long he plays with the apex court by delaying tactics to justify his benefits availed by him for his advocacy,

  41. dear all,

the cockroach statment is in quotes. SOMEONE in LUMS said that. You have a rat in your university 😀 go kill them first and don't curse tajwar. From all the crowds she is able to pull, tajwar is pretty level-headed (i met her a few days ago only). Which just shows me that all of you are the ones who need to look at yourselves.

In the long run, she, who did not even name anyone in the article (except chinoy) will be the good person. you on the other hand are the horrible old hags who are barbarians and who need to be sent to military school, not LUMS.

SHE represents LUMS, you don't. kthnxbye.

  42. can somebody portray the real inside picture of Lums. the poor like me can just be envious of Lums graduates

  43. trust me, tajwar has no grudge against lums. LUMS took her side and many people were sent to the disciplinary committee for making personal attacks on her.
she is against the lack of transparency, the control the admin thinks it has on the students and their lack of compassion for students and the lack of invovlement of students in the way the university is being run.

she loves lums that is why she has the courage to point out its flaws. if you guys were genuinely concerned about lums, you would have done that too. instead, you are out defending your PDA. talk of being selfish.

i am saying all this on the basis of a conversation i had with her yesterday only. i did not post here, i went to her and got my qualms answered. and now i am her fan.

maybe all of you need to do that too and rise above your biases.

      • i am happy to be a part of this article and assist Tajwar in doing this. I swear Taj has LUMS' best interests at heart and she has reported the facts as it is. she is a very good and pious person and i can not even dream that she would tell a lie to the public. What Tajwar has written in this article was actually procured by my assistance and being a part of LUMS I testify that this is happening in LUMS and these issues do exist

  44. tajwar is one of the kindest people. One of those who have been able to stay human even after studying from LUMS. she is an exception that is why all the self-centred, egoistic losers are spewing hate against her.

  45. and for the record, when i asked her about the hateful comments here, she just smiled and said she bore no grudges and wishes everyone well.
If anyone else had been in her place, they would have been angry or sad or hurt or vengeful. she genuinely wasn't.
A great person, tajwar. shame on all of you.

  46. I am a LUMS student and I am ashamed at the comments written here. Supposedly the most intellectually superior institute that produces "Liberals", hasnt taught its students how to critique. A lot of comments are personal and unrelated to the topic here. If u dont lke the article then comment on its content, why are u becoming personal and attacking the author. The author had the guts to bring up an issue in LUMS that was necessary, and she is being unfairly ridiculed because of that. It is a shame, and some people have mentioned here facebook profile and its contents. This is pathetic behavior and shows the ' Intellectual levels of the Liberals" at LUMS who just cannot digest the fact that Tajwar raised an issue that questioned their freedom. My respect for Tajwar has increased a lot after reading these comments.

  47. Everyone, I have something to say to you all, I'll make it short

    1) Many people have been doing personal attacks on author and that is really shameful. going through facebook profiles or discussing past events associated to her, is a very crude act

    2) people broaching the PDA issue to defame Tajwar need to know that their comments delineate how desperate they are to get a couple of kisses in public. Tajwar was right that's why the LUMS admin supported her

    3) about the article; let me tell you that the article seems to have a biased tune just because the facts are too horrible to believe. but she has actually quoted people in the article and she could not have lied. proofs are available. the e-mails regarding this issue are in every LUMS' students' inbox.

    4) the facts reported here are absolutely true. being a LUMS student, I testify these. I personally unearthed hair in the samosas and have to deal with the "unpleasant cashiers" daily. other complaints are genuine and unfabricated.
I am even posting this comment from LAB 5, PC 20 of Library building in LUMS.

    5) LUMS is going through a financial crises at the moment and the unjustified price-hike is the obvious example to this. other examples include raising the fee (LUMS annual tuition fee is now Rs. 5,00,000; excluding hostel dues and food charges). similarly a lot of deserving financial aid applications are being rejected. and LUMS staff is also being fired (LUMS counselor was fired a few days ago)
while all the time the admin is wasting funds on useless events and functions.

6)all in all i personally know Tajwar. She is honest and a brave woman who never compromises on her principles. she gave me tremendous help in recovering from a depressing incident in my life. so i know that she is as sane as any one; infact brilliant and extremely kind. so dont talk about her in rude words. Our culture does teach us how to behave with women. and respect is the bedrock of these teachings

this is all i have to say
    Take care

East or west Tajwar is the best

  48. An exaggerated expressions. Moreover, LUMS life and issues are a concern of students studying there and not of the general public so this is not a forum for issues like this. Kindly let go off issues that are not of any concern. It's merely writing for the sake of writing! Get real issues and get them solved. PDC issue is not going to solve given this article. The students and administration are there to mutually come up with a solution and such articles are highlighting nothing and cum'on!! You're disgracing your own institute by writing such articles. Grow up!!

  49. tajwar … the lamest loser, I dont even know ! I am from Batch of 2011 and m disgusted with your exagerations and malign for your own institution … ok PDC raised prices, our current Students will handle it ! stop showering your negtive comments for the whole world to see. Pakistan Today has bigger issues to resolve or inform the public about ! …

@END I am so sure you have no idea about LUMS, so just stop rambling !
