Chief Meteorological Department Muhammad Riaz on Friday said that mainly hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country.
Talking to PTV he said rain and thunderstorm is expected at isolated places of Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and its adjoining hilly areas. Dusty winds are likely to prevail in North-east Balochistan, Central and Southern parts of Punjab and Upper Sindh during next 24 hours, he said.
He said that moderate air is prevailing in most parts of the country, however a shallow westerly wave is still present over Kashmir and its adjoining hilly areas. To a question, he said that the costal areas of the country are not under any threat of Tsunami wave generated by the earthquake of 8.6 magnitude of West Coast of Northern Sumatra Island, Indonesia.
He said National Seismic Monitoring and Tsunami Warning Center of Pakistan Meteorological Department is continuously monitoring the situation and will issue necessary alert in case any part of the Pakistani Coastal area comes under any kind of threat. He said the summer season will start in Islamabad in the mid of April while snow melting in hilly ares will start from next week.
