Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Fazlur Rehman on Wednesday finally agreed to end his boycott of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS) after repeated efforts, particularly by President Asif Ali Zardari.
Earlier in the day, the JUI-F chief had called on the president but the meeting remained inconclusive. Later, PCNS Chairman Senator Raza Rabbani and Pakistani Ambassador to US Sherry Rehman held a detailed meeting with the JUI-F chief on the instructions of the president.
“The JUI-F chief agreed to attend the PCNS meeting today with a condition that his party would submit its recommendation regarding the reopening of NATO supplies,” a source told Pakistan Today.
However, Fazl appeared reluctant to support and advocate the restoration of NATO supplies to Afghanistan through Pakistan, the source added.
