KARACHI – The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday issued notices to the director-generals of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Military Intelligence (MI) and Pakistan Rangers (Sindh); the Sindh home secretary; the inspector general of police (IGP); Karachi Capital City Police officer (CCPO); and others to file their comments on February 3 in a missing person’s case.
Through her counsel Maqbool Rehman Advocate, Gulfam Bibi filed a constitutional petition impleaded the heads of law enforcement agencies as respondents. She sought the whereabouts of her son Ashraf, who was allegedly picked up by the intelligence and law enforcement agencies on August 13, 2009. She prayed to the court to issue directions to the respondents for releasing her son.
IGP, Larkana DIG, DPO issued notices: The same division bench also issued notices to the IGP, Larkana’s deputy inspector general (DIG), the district police officer (DPO) and others in a constitutional petition filed by Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid Larkana General Secretary Babu Sarfaraz Sial regarding the alleged abduction of five of his relatives by the Larkana police.
Sarfaraz stated that the Larkana police had picked up five of his relatives, namely Muhammad, Siddique, Inayatullah, Ghulam Farooq and Ramzan, from Larkana’s Baqrani district on October 13 due to political victimisation.
