The Lahore High Court on Tuesday issued notices to secretary education and Punjab government in a petition challenging issuance of funds amounting to Rs 23.3420 billion to private schools while ignoring the ill-conditioned government schools. After hearing arguments by the petition counsel on the matter LHC Chief justice Sh Azmat Saeed summoned secretary education Punjab for Wednesday (today) directing him to explain why such a big amount of funds were issued to the upper class private schools and not to the poor government schools. The petition was filed by Advocate Azhar Siddique questioning the unwise funding to rich schools by the sitting government. The petitioner said it was a strange example of good governance in the province where the government schools were working in depleted buildings and in bad conditions and the government was issuing huge funds to renowned private schools for reasons best known to secretary education and the CM. Azhar pleaded that he, as a citizens of the state, could not understand the logic in giving huge amount for welfare of the private schools that do not need welfare money at all because they were already charging inflated fees from parents. He said the responsibility of the government was towards the poor sections of the society whose children go to government schools where they were hardly provided any facilities. He said the students of 61,000 government schools do not have basic facilities as simple toilets, benches, chairs and water coolers and the government was giving funds to private schools.
This court could not get us( the people) "Right Of Way" through GOR 1 and its worried about dilapidated govt schools???
