Rs 1b projects completed in cantonment areas

The provincial government has completed a number of development projects for welfare of people in cantonment area costing Rs 1 billion. Official sources sharing details of the projects informed that Rs 40.80 million have been spent to provide furniture and other missing facilities at Khadiga Degree College. Talking to APP they said, Rs. 20 million have been given to Degree College Peshawar Road while around 10 primary schools have also been upgraded and given status of middle schools besides an overall grant of Rs 4 million. Besides, some more projects worth Rs two billion are in pipeline, which will be completed shortly, they stated. They apprised that Chur Chowk to Pirwadhai flyover is at initial stage, which would help ensure smooth flow of traffic in the city. PC-I of the project has been finalized, while work on it would be started soon after release of the required funds. One government hospital having state-of-the-art facilities would also be established in the Cantonment area aimed at helping the suffering humanity, for which a formal request have been forwarded to Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif. Talking to APP, Member National Assembly Malik Ibrar Ahmed said the Punjab Government has launched and completed a record number of development projects in Rawalpindi in the four years. He said Rs 10.3 million have been disbursed in all high schools of the area to ensure provision of missing facilities at the educational institutions.
