Paul wants steps for minorities’ uplift

National Harmony Minister Dr Paul Bhatti has called for steps to end poverty, illiteracy and overpopulation to uplift minorities and bring them in the mainstream.
According to a press release issued on Friday, Bhatti was addressing a delegation of Vatican University, Italy, here on Friday. The delegation, headed by Professor Basti, called on him to exchange views on interfaith harmony, inter-cultural and inter-religious dialogue. The Italian ambassador was also present at the meeting.
Dr Paul Bhatti also held Good Friday lunch in the honour of the Italian delegation of professors who are teaching culture, religion and interfaith harmony at the University of Vatican.
The delegation, led by Professor Basti, is visiting Pakistan to demonstrate solidarity with the efforts of Dr Paul Bhatti to promote interfaith relationship, dialogue and harmony in a bid to bring peace, prosperity and economic uplift of the Pakistani society.
Dr Paul also nominated Professor Mubeen as All Pakistan Minorities Alliance (APMA) president in Italy. Mubeen is also accompanying the delegation. The APMA president is already working in Canada, America and Spain.
The Good Friday lunch was attended by a large number of members of All Pakistan Minorities Alliance, civil society members and journalists.
Good Friday was observed by the Christian community on Friday to commemorate crucifixion of Jesus Christ, which is an important part of the Christian faith.
