Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Rao Anwaar Ahmed Khan on Friday named a fellow police officer as an alleged suspect in Thursday’s targeted suicide attack at a police convoy at Malir Halt. The SSP accused four suspects, including a police inspector Azam Mehsud and his brother, who he claims could be behind the targeted attack. The senior police officer told the media representatives that he had information about the attack beforehand. Rao Anwar Ahmed Khan said he had unspecified ”evidence” showing that the three officers were involved in the blast Thursday that killed four people. He said he had filed a criminal case against them.
The men he accused were not immediately reachable for comment. The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for Thursday’s attack against Khan, who has pledged to battle extremism in the city. The attack on Thursday targeted the SSP, but Anwar remained safe while four other were killed and 17 wounded.
