Tribunal records statement in PIC deaths case

The defective drugs inquiry tribunal on Friday recorded the statement of Chairman Chief Minister’s Inspection Team Najeem Saeed in the PIC deaths case.
He submitted his statement in writing and also answered questions raised by the tribunal. The tribunal summoned Akhtar Hussain, Deputy Director-General Cabinet Division, Government of Pakistan, and Dr Zahid Pervaiz, Director General Health Punjab, for April 9. The tribunal comprising Justice Ijazul Ahsan of the Lahore High Court is holding proceedings on a day-to-day basis.
The tribunal is probing causes of deaths of patients at PIC caused by the use of spurious drugs. LHC Chief Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed had constituted the tribunal after the Punjab government had moved the court.
Scrap yard sealed for violating Dengue regulations: The Lahore City District Environment Department sealed a scrap yard at Bund Road on Friday for violating directions issued for prevention against Dengue.
According to the EPD sources, old storage tins, drums and bottles were lying uncovered, providing breeding grounds to dengue mosquitoes.
Rashid scrapyard was sealed by the department’s teams and a notice issued to improve the conditions.
