The International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) has started work on the project of Malik Meraj Khalid Housing Colony amounting to Rs 7 billion to provide a residential facility to its employees.
Visiting the site of the planned colony, IIUI Rector Professor Fateh Muhammad Malik said the colony will be constructed soon and that complete funding will be arranged.
Project Director Aamir Ishtiaq said in the first phase, flats for about 1250 employees will be built and the provision of basic necessities will be ensured for which the university will issue Rs 20 million. IIUI President Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad and Vice President Dr
Sahibzada Sajid-ur-Rehman were also present on the occasion. Earlier, Prof Dr Sahibzada Sajid-ur-Rehman, kicked off a tree plantation drive in the university and said the organisation and individuals worked together.
He said no institution can grow without its employees. He stated that it is necessary for the growth of an institution that its employees have a bond with it. Dr Sahibzada Sajid-ur-Rehman said all governments have contributed to the progress of the university.
He said the university has launched a tree plantation drive on its own and different departments have been directed to look after the tree plantation drive to make it a success. Dr Sahibzada Sajid-ur-Rehman, Dr Khalid Masood and Female Campus Director Dr Zaitoon Begum planted the saplings. Dr Masood also inaugurated a tube well in the premises of the university.
