Rescue 1122 has claimed to rescue over 32,957 victims of emergencies while carrying out 33,697 rescue operations during the month of March, in 36 cities of Punjab, while maintaining its average response time. The Director General, Punjab Emergency Service Dr Rizwan Naseer on Monday carried out a performance review of emergency operations in all districts of Punjab to ensure uniform standard of the Service.
The emergency calls to which Rescue 1122 responded includes 13040 Road Traffic Accidents, 17934 Medical emergencies, 908 Fire incidents, 46 Building Collapse incidents, 1588 Crime, 59 Drowning Incidents, 104 Special Rescue operations mostly animal rescue and 18 Explosions.
Dr Rizwan stressed upon District Emergency Officers to evolve a strategy to manage increasing number of emergencies due to increased traffic load. He requested bystanders to call only in case of major accidents and critical emergencies so that misuse of emergency resources can be prevented.
