The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Monday adjourned till April 10 its hearing of Babar Awan’s contempt of court case.
A three-member bench, headed by Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, heard the case regarding the law minister’s derogatory remarks against the apex court judiciary, but Awan could not be charge-sheeted due to absence of Attorney General of Pakistan.
Deputy Attorney General appeared before the jury and told that AG was present in Supreme Court’s Quetta registry for hearing of some cases, therefore he did not appear.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was also present in the apex court’s Quetta registry to hear different cases.
The SC later adjourned Awan’s contempt of court case till April 10.
Awan had subjected the SC judges of his criticism in a press conference along with other PPP ministers when the court announced to constitute a commission to probe into the memo scandal case.
In its earlier hearings, the court has observed that there are enough evidences for contempt of court proceeding against Babar Awan.
The judges should decide this case on the basis of evidence. I hope they don't decide it on sympathy just because awan has fallen out of favor with zardari/gillani. They should remember that "justice is blind". No peeking 🙂
