CDA directed to make all water plants functional within 15 days

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has been directed to carry out necessary maintenance of water filtration plants immediately and to make all plants of the city operational within 15 days to ensure clean drinking water to the residents of federal capital.
The directions were given by Prime Minister Task Force on Islamabad Fasial Sakhi Butt during his inspection of the water filtration plants across the capital city here on Sunday. Most of the filtration plants in several sectors, particularly in I and G series, are out of function for the last many months. The lethargic attitude of the city bosses is considered as on of the major reason behind the issue which has created a plethora of problems for the residents of city.
“We have to go too far for getting clean drinking water as most of the filtration plants in our area are dysfunctional but the civic body has been paying no heed towards their maintenance,” said Mughees Haider, resident of sector G/10.
The PM task force chief also showed his dissatisfaction over the poor maintenance and cleanliness of the filtration plants in sector G-7, G-8, G-9, G-10, and I-8 and directed the concerned officials of the authority to rectify the situation.
It is pertinent to mention here that CDA is operating 37 filtration plants in different areas of Islamabad to provide clean drinking water to the residents.
The concerned officials would be taken to task failing to properly maintain the plants, ensuring cleanliness and replacement of the water filters and other necessary gadgets in time as the government would never compromise on the health of the citizens.
He also directed to make arrangements for regular supply of water during the coming summer season in the wake of possible water shortage. The water tanker service should also be improved. He said that regular monitoring of the water supply lines and leakages should be repaired to minimize the wastage of water. He also directed to prepare a comprehensive plan to timely attend the public complaints regarding water supply.
Talking to residents of different areas of the city during the visit, the chairman said that provision of quality civic services was the priority of the government and concrete measures would be taken in the light of directions of the prime minister. He said participation of the public would be ensured in the decision making process to maximize the benefits of development projects in the federal capital. For early redressal of public complaints, the CDA has been involved to designate the focal persons in different areas of the city and in this regard around 553 complaints had been redressed out of the total 667 complaints received during on month period.
Faisal Butt said the government was committed to expeditious development of the city inline with the proposals of the local residents to make it one of the progressive capitals of the world.
