Sanofi, Diabetic Association sign MoU to promote better diabetes management

Sanofi announced today collaboration with the Diabetic Association of Pakistan (DAP) to improve the quality of care for diabetic patients in Pakistan. Diabetes is increasing at an alarming rate in Pakistan. There are currently (approx.) 7.1 million diabetic patients in Pakistan; by 2030 Pakistan is projected to have 11.4 million diabetics and will rank 10 th in the world. A MoU was signed today between the General Manager and Managing Director of Sanofi Pakistan, Mr. Tariq Wajid, and Prof. A. Samad Shera, Secretary General Diabetic Association of Pakistan. The distinguished Prof. Shera is also the Honorary President of International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and heads the World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre. The signing marks the launch of a nationwide initiative “Sanofi Kawish” (Sanofi Endeavor), a collaborative effort between Sanofi and DAP (Diabetic Association of Pakistan) to improve the standards of diabetes care in Pakistan. Through this program, DAP will conduct 20 workshops to educate 1000 healthcare professionals from smaller towns and cities in early detection, better disease management and management of the complications in people with diabetes. Sanofi will also provide patient educational material and resources to help healthcare providers detect diabetes and manage patients better.
