Backing import of electricity from India at a reasonable cost, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif on Thursday said the government and its coalition partners were responsible for worsening law and order situation in Karachi.
Talking to reporters in Khanewal, the former prime minister said the PML-N had no armed wing. He said extortion and no-go-areas in Karachi were new terms introduced during the tenure of the incumbent government.
“This is a product of current rulers who are collecting money for their next generations and law and order has no importance in their eyes,” Nawaz added.
He said the Supreme Court had pinpointed that all political parties had armed wings except the PML-N.
To a question regarding load shedding, he said Punjab was the worst affected area.
He said he supported Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s stance of taking to streets against prolonged outages across the province that had even crossed 20 hours.
He said a chief minister could raise voice against the injustice of federation with his province.
Quoting history, he said India was once interested in purchasing electricity from Pakistan, but circumstance had changed to a dangerous extent.
He said the government was least concerned with the progress and prosperity of the country; rather rulers had put the country in a difficult situation where there was no hope for the common man to survive. Nawaz said whenever the country was on the path of development, dictators stepped in and removed democratic governments.

  1. I wonder when we will get rid of our STUPID fear and hate of India. It is our self created isolation that is leading us down a shitty path day after day. I hope it happens because WE NEED ELECTRICITY. Afghanistan is useless, Iran is a major issue and China…I don’t even know what to say about china! INDIA IT IS!

  2. It can be a viable short term solution however power generation within the country should be given priority for future energy needs..
