Quetta – The Balochistan High Court granted bail to Shahzain Bugti, the provincial president of the Jamhoori Watan Party, and his 26 guards on Monday.
Shahzain, the grandson of slain Baloch leader Akbar Bugti was arrested by the Frontier Corps and local police at Baleli checkpost on December 22 along with his 26 bodyguards for carrying a large cache of weapons when they were travelling from Chaman to Quetta.
Mukesh Nath Kohli, lawyer for Bugti and his 26 men, moved a bail application in the BHC for their release following a rejection of their bail plea by the Quetta District and Sessions Court.
Justice Noor Miskanzai approved the application on a surety bond of Rs 500,000 each. Kohli told reporters that a copy of the court verdict would be submitted to jail authorities for the release of the arrested.
He said Bugti’s future course of action regarding his long march for January 28 towards Dera Bugti would be announced after his release.
