Police on Wednesday used water cannon and tear gas shells against nurses protesting outside the Karachi Press Club for rise in payments.
Calling for government allowances and promotions, the paramedical staff, including hundreds of nurses, from the Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Center (JPMC) and other hospitals gathered under the auspicious Provincial Nurses Association outside the KPC.
The riot police barred the demonstrators from moving towards the neighboring Governor House, using the powerful hose and firing teargas shells to disperse the protesting nurses.
Scores of nurses fell unconscious when police baton charged them after using the water cannon.

These nurses are multiple discriminating and depriving from their valuable legal rights by denying their rights and so also from their rights of protest and struggle, safe guarded under the law of land and constitution of Pakistan. It is a violation of laws, constitution of Pakistan and human value and ethics at a large. The High Court may take sou moto action on this shameful and deplorable act and incident against the responsible.
