Two aircraft narrowly escaped a disastrous collision as they came face to face on the same runway here Tuesday.
According to details, one aircraft was still on the runway when control tower mistakenly allowed another aircraft of a private airline to take off. There was danger of a disastrous incident but it was prevented due to alertness shown by the pilots of the two aircraft.
The pilot of the private airline was called back and after recording his statement was allowed to take off.
Civil Aviation Authority has ordered an inquiry into the matter.
