Deputy Director Malir Development Authority imprisoned in Central Jail Karachi was stabbed to death by an inmate here late Sunday night.
According to details, Basharat Hussain, Deputy Director Malir Development Authority scuffled with a fellow inmate Muhammad Ahmed at late night over unknown reasons. As a result the prisoner stabbed to death Basharat Hussain, who was nabbed and jailed in September 2011, after having been found guilty in a fraud case.
The brother of deceased, Taqqi Hussain blamed that his brother was first tortured and then stabbed to death and police was involved in the murder.
Meanwhile, the police claimed that murderer Muhammad Ahmed was mentally deranged and often went through hysteria and at the time of murder he was not feeling well.
The jail administration has suspended duty officer and other police official for negligence from duty and an inquiry as to how the prisoner got the knife inside the prison was underway.
