NAB throws out Sheikh Afzal’s plea in BoP scam

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has rejected the Rs 3 billion plea bargain of Sheikh Muhammad Afzal, the main accused in Bank of Punjab loan scam. The decision was taken during a meeting of the executive board chaired by NAB Chairman Admiral (r) Fasih Bokhari. The board rejected the plea bargain offer of Rs 3.077 billion made by Afzal in one of the major financial bungling and decided to re-determine the plea bargain offer as the principal amount borrowed from BoP stood around Rs 8.404 billion.
