US-Pakistan relations must have ownership of Pakistanis: Khar

Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar has emphasised that Islamabad wants to build a relationship with the United States which has the ownership of Pakistani people and that it works for both sides in a way that is respectful of Pakistani sovereignty.
“I don’t think it’s a matter of grievance as much as it is about a matter of building a type of partnership which is lasting, which has the ownership of the people of Pakistan, and of course the parliament of Pakistan,” Khar told MSNBC channel in an interview.
The foreign minister’s remarks came as the parliament started examining recommendation on moving forward the Pakistan-US relationship, which the White House sees as critical to regional security. Khar argued that the partnership between the two countries should be able to “achieve results which are considered to be in the joint interest of both Pakistan and the United States and of course the NATO members, who are operating in Afghanistan”.
Separately, she told reporters that Pakistan would grant Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status to India by December 2012. Khar said India would automatically get the MFN status when trade relations normalise with it by December 2013.

    • I have found comments by Kamran very offensive. What he writes seems to have come directly from his readings of sexually explicit material.

I have advised my sixteen year old daughter to read PT and I would not like her to think that the readers of PT are of such mind set. I will strongly advise PT to take this matter further and ban this individual from printing his comments till such a time a formal public apology is issued.

This matter can be taken further and a formal complaint can be launched with his e-mail account holder and criminal charges brought against him.

Kamran is perhaps lucky in some ways that he is in Pakistan and not in a western country and likely to get away with it.

People must show respect to state functionaries of any country, not only Pakistan, and choose their words carefully.

Freedom of speech demands due regards for the rights of others.

I am also making my comments public.

      • I have made a formal complaint to PT and reported the matter for them to take further necessary action.

    • PT you need to delete this comment as well. I am considering Kamran’s apology which on the face of it appears to be lacking in genuineness and remorse. His written language tells that he resides in the West which would make it easier for the authorities to trace him and question his motive.

    • Thank you PT for deleting Kamran's second comment on what he said in response to Anon.

  2. My apologies. I did not think that a child may be reading these comments and I was totally out of line. I did not mean to offend anyone and what I said in good humor was in bad taste. I should have been more careful in choosing my word. I hope you guys can find it in your heart to forgive me.
