Senator Zulfiqar Ali Khosa has said that livestock sector is lagging behind in meeting modern world requirements and there was an urgent need to develop this sector through scientific research. He urged the university researchers and veterinarians to make interventions at grass roots level to address farmers’ problems.
He was addressing the inaugural session of a one-day seminar on “Roadmap for Development of Dairy Sector of Pakistan” organised by the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences’ faculty of veterinary science in collaboration with the dairy industries at university’s conference hall on Monday.
L&DDD Additional Secretary Khalid Awais Ranjha, Livestock Dairy Development Board CEO Major Gen (r) Muhammad Ali Khan, Nestle Managing Director Azhar Ali Syed and others were present on the occasion.
He said the Punjab government had taken many steps to develop the livestock sector. UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha also addressed the occasion.
