Senator lauds Zardari’s address to parliament

Leader of Awami National Party Senator Haji Adeel said that an elected president’s fifth address to the joint session of parliament is a great achievement of the government and democracy in Pakistan.
Talking to Radio Pakistan, he said it is a first time in the history of the country that a democratically elected president addressed the parliament for fifth time, he added.
Commenting on President Asif Ali Zardari’s address on the beginning of fifth parliamentary year of present government and parliament, Senator Haji Adeel said ANP supported the government unconditionally and honestly at every difficult time so that democracy may be strengthened.
MNA PML-Q Riaz Fatiana appreciated the President Asif Ali Zardari’s address and termed his speech a balanced one. He said President Asif Ali Zardari is a man of crisis and he was more confident than earlier. He said parliament’s members thumbed the desks for Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani when President appreciated his performance during his speech, which shows Prime Minister still enjoys support of majority of parliament. Senator Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi, leader of MQM has said that President’s for fifth consecutive address to the parliament means Pakistan has entered soundly in democratic process. It means democracy has taken its roots in Pakistan, he maintained. He said President Asif Ali Zardari made balanced and to the point speech in joint session of parliament.

Talking to a private Radio, she said President Asif Ali Zardari as co-Chairman of PPP led the coalition parties with patience and tolerance despite criticism. “We all succeeded to establish the fact that democracy is need of the country and its flaws will be addressed with the passage of time”, she added. She said PPP government carried out the difficult process of constitutional reforms in only four years. She questioned as to how reforms in FCR were possible or giving the political rights to Gilgit-Baltistan was not an easy task, but PPP government did it.
