The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has re-activated the dengue surveillance cell established at the District Health Office.
The cell will work under the supervision of Surveillance Co-ordinator, Dr M Najeeb Durrani.
It will monitor the number of dengue patients admitted to different hospitals in the city.
As a part of its preventive measures, the administration will also start the first round of fumigation in the high risk areas of the rural areas of Islamabad.
The activity will be supervised by Islamabad District Health Officer Dr M Azhar Khan. The cell has been reactivated on the special directions of Islamabad Chief Commissioner Tariq Mahmood Pirzada and Deputy Commissioner Amer Ali Ahmed. The cell would work under the supervision of Surveillance Coordinator, Dr M Najeeb Durrani. The cell would monitor the admission of new dengue patients to different hospitals of Islamabad.
The citizens of the federal capital have lauded the precautionary measures of the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration against the threats of dengue virus.
They are of the view that timely measures will not only lessen the threats of the dreadful dengue virus but would also secure many precious lives.
The administration has also planned to start first round of fumigation campaign and spray in high-risk areas of the rural places very shortly.
The first round of the drive in the rural areas against dengue and social mobilisation is under way.
Over 60,000 pamphlets were distributed in the community for creating awareness about preventive measures against dengue.
Poly Clinic in collaboration with the ICT administration and the WHO is also organising the first capacity-building workshop from March 19 to March 22 for all important health care providers from Islamabad hospitals, including CDA Hospital, NESCOM, PIMS, Shifa International and medical officers from the health department of Islamabad.
