The Pakistan Economy Watch (PEW) on Thursday questioned the credibility of famous Indian spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar by asking how come a person advocating love, peace and renouncing attachment to possession enjoy princely living.
Billionaire gurus have become one of the major industries in India and Shankar has become a bestseller due to positive reports in western media, it said.
It is normal in Hindu spirituality to trace one’s lineage of gurus but Shankar would never mention his gurus on website or literature, said Dr Murtaza Mughal, President PEW.
In fact, the holy man wants to hide the names of super-rich gurus like Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh and Maharishi Mahesh Yogi having personal jets, fleet of expansive cars and properties worth billions of dollars across the globe, he said.
Dr Murtaza Mughal added involvement of almost all the gurus in crimes, sex, land grabbing, deceit, forgery etc. is no secret.
Shankar is no exception as he also own hotels, resorts, university buildings, enormous ashrams, fly in jets, live in five-star luxury, move around in gleaming limos, and amass huge fortunes while peddling ideas of simple living.
These fake gurus have no mystical powers but they can fake some of the so-called miracles, he said adding that they cannot cure illnesses beyond the capabilities of mainstream medicine.
He said that India wants to erase existence of Pakistan by employing all possible means. New Delhi has gained influence everywhere except for armed forces.
Now controversial Hindu spiritual leaders are opening ashrams in Pakistan to teach worship to Muslims which is height of our insensitivity.
He said that Yoga is not an exercise; its postures are based on Hindu worship of the sun and moon as deities which is strictly forbidden in Islam.
Dr. Murtaza Mughal said that government has banned entry of world’s renowned Islamic scholars in Pakistan while misguided Hindu yogis are being welcomed with open arms which show thinking of our decision makers.
They want to please India may it be on the cost of martyrs of Kashmir, moral values of society or Pakistan itself, he lamented.

Yogi's and their organization living in poverty and bare means seems to be the benchmark of authencity ! Looks like they should travel in ships and abandon jet flying! Although nothing wring in living in 5 star luxury and owning hotels !!!! looks like Dr. Murtaza Mughal has not done his homework properly on this yogi. And I don't think he is at all peddling ideas of simple living… also simple does not mean — abandoning everything !

It unfortunate that a authentic looking entity like " Pakistan Economy Watch" is propagating this falsehood. Yoga is a an exercise which helps you attain good physical and mental balance and not a "hindu" practice to worship God. Sri Sri is advocating peace and brotherhood and not renouncing your life. If we focus on the message and not the messenger, it is clear that what Sri Sri says irrespective on his economic status makes sense for both India and Pakistan. I wish people forget their prejudice for a moment and think about the message and how one can move forward in the positive direction.
Dr. Murtaza Mughal has done a great job by exposing frauds and our rulers who want to please India on the cost of Pakistan. We lack nothing in Islam. Therefore we don't need Kuffar to teach us religion. Shame on all Pakistanis who are supporting the Sri Sri, a corrupt spiritual leader.

After plundering India Shankar has stepped into Pakistan with the help of traitors. I think he is pir of Zardari and Gillani. Chief Justice should take not of the situation. It is amazing that no political party or religious leaders has spoken a word about it save Dr. Mughal.
