HEC trains 30 external evaluators of Teachers’ Education Council

As many as 30 external evaluators of National Accreditation Council for Teachers’ Education (NACTE) received training at a three-day workshop organised by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
The training workshop was aimed at preparing a selected group of external evaluators who may assist the council as master/lead trainers for the training of new external evaluators, conduct accreditation visits and provide guidance for accreditation preparation to the interested institutions.
Dr Vivienne Baumfield, professor of pedagogy, policy and innovation at the School of Education, University of Glasgow, UK, was the resource person.
She shared the quality assurance practices in other countries. The training also included discussions on national accreditation standards, accreditation tools, documents and procedures.
Speaking at the opening session, Higher Education Commission Quality Assurance Agency Director General Fida Hussain emphasised the need for quality assurance and for adding workforce to assist the quality assurance activities.
He appreciated the efforts of the NACTE to bring quality in teachers’ education. “Quality of teachers’ education institutions will ensure quality teaching in the country,” he added.
NACTE Chairperson Dr Munawar Mirza explained the background of the council’s establishment, its mandate and benefits of accreditation.
