A three-day national anti-polio vaccination campaign to administer drops to children under five-year age concluded here on Wednesday throughout the country. According to an official of National Polio Eradication Programme, 20,104 supervisors and 1,830 medical officers were assigned to supervise vaccination teams.
He said 76,587 trained house-to-house vaccination teams, 5,184 trained transit teams and 9,723 fixed points trained vaccination teams targeted approximately 33.4 million children.
He said the main focus of the campaign was administering anti-polio drops to children living in high risk areas. Polio vaccine used in the country was safe and effective and was produced internationally while the World Health Organisation (WHO) has approved its quality, he said. He said the vaccine was the same that had been used in most of the world to eradicate polio, including Saudi Arabia and Indonesia.
