Interior Minister Senator Rehman Malik on Tuesday asked PML-N President Nawaz Sharif to become a party in the Mehran Bank scandal just like he did in the Memogate scam and he would be provided all record for this purpose.
Talking to journalists, the minister said that a commission should also be formed to investigate instructions given by Nawaz and former Ehtesab Bureau chairman Saifur Rehman to Justice (r) Malik Qayyum that President Asif Ali Zardari be awarded maximum punishment. He said that if a memo commission can be formed then a similar commission may also be formed to investigate this case. Malik said that police across the country would be provided access and equipment to record mobile phones of criminals and a central crime data base centre would be set up in Islamabad.
He announced to launch a countrywide crackdown against foreigners staying illegally in Pakistan, adding that those foreigners involved in illegal activities would be arrested and others deported. Malik said security threats were received in connection with the joint session of parliament beginning on March 17 and a special security plan had been prepared to keep a strict vigil on Islamabad’s borders with other provinces including Nathiagali and areas behind the Margalla Hills.
The minister said a summary has been forwarded to the prime minister for granting access to police to mobile phone data and equipment would be provided to the force to find location of the criminal elements. He said on requests of provincial police chiefs, every province has been allowed to increase their strength by three thousand personnel. In addition, he said, police would be provided bullet proof jackets.

Nawaz will try to make a deal with government now to save himself. He made deal with Musharaf and now he will try with current government to the dismay of his party workers.
