Faisalabad girls steal the limelight at CM Sports Cup

LAHORE – Faisalabad girls and Sargodha boys won the athletics titles and Sohrab Zohra of Sahiwal won gold medal in the 100 metres race of the Chief Minister Sports Competition (high school, divisional level) here at different venues of the city.
The gold medalist team in girls athletics events was Faisalabad followed by Sahiwal who got second place and Gujranwala got bronze. The team from Sargodha got gold medal in boys final athletics, Lahore won silver medal and Faisalabad claimed bronze.
On day three, the final girls athletics were held at Punjab Stadium in which Sohrab got distinction in 100m race whereas Saira Mumtaz from Faisalabad stood second. In 200m race, Sahbe Asra from Faisalabad was the winner and Sohrab was second. Sahbe Asra from Faisalabad won the 400m race whereas Samabia Noreen from Sahiwal was second in the event. On the other hand, in the 800m race, Samabia Noreen from Sahiwal got the first position and Sahbe Asra was second.
In shot putt, Razia Younas from Faisalabad won the event, Sambia Noreen from Sahiwal won the long jump title and Faisalabad team was the winner of 4x100m relay race. In boys football event, Sahiwal scored 9-1 win against Rawalpindi. Faisalabad beat DG Khan and Gujranwala beat Multan 3-1. The match between Lahore and Bahawalpur ended in goalless draw.
In boys badminton, Lahore beat Bahawalpur 2-0, Sahiwal beat DG Khan 2-0 and Lahore won beat DG Khan 2-0. Gujranwala gained 2-0 win against Rawalpindi. In girls badminton tournaments, Sahiwal beat DG Khan 2-0, Bahawalpur were declared winner 2-0 against Rawalpindi. Gujranwala won the match against Faisalabad 2-0. Multan beat Sargodha 2-0. Rawalpindi beat Sahiwal 2-0 and Multan defeated Faisalabad 2-0. In the volleyball boys competitions, Faisalabad down Rawalpindi 2-1, Gujranwala defeated Lahore 2-0, Sahiwal beat Bahawalpur 2-0 whereas Lahore beat Rawalpindi 2-0. The semi-finals will be held between Faisalabad vs Bahawalpur and Sahiwal vs Gujranwala.
