BNU hosts Mental Health Activities

Beaconhouse National University’s Institute of Psychology hosted “Mental Health Activities” on Tuesday, March 06 and Wednesday, March 07, 2012 at the City Campus. The first day featured academic activities including a quiz competition and a poster competition on the theme of “Promoting Well-being: Optimism, Resilience & Hope” in our society. Students of undergraduate degrees in Psychology from Kinnaird College for Women University, Lahore College for Women University, Government College University (GCU), University of the Punjab, University of Management and Technology (UMT) and MAO College participated in the competitions. Judges of the Poster Competition included Professor Salima Hashmi and Director, Institute of Psychology Prof Dr Ruhi Khalid. The second day featured a certificate distribution ceremony and a psychometric assessment facility by trained clinical psychologists for students and visitors using a variety of psychological tests. BNU Vice Chancellor, Mr Sartaj Aziz along with Prof Dr Ruhi Khalid graced the certificate distribution ceremony. The Vice Chancellor also inaugurated a Mental Health Day Carnival on the occasion. The costs for organizing various activities have been shared between students and faculty of IP and the proceeds generated from these activities shall be contributed to a deserving charity organization. Moreover in Continuation of the Mental Health Activities, the IP also celebrated the International Women’s Day on Thursday, March 08, 2012 at the City Campus in collaboration with Women Times magazine. A seminar in this regard was organized featuring well known Political and Social Figures such as: Mrs Nasira Javed Iqbal, Ms Humaira Awais Shahid, MPA, Ms Aasia Saail Khan, Mr Wajahat Masood, Dr Bushra Rehman and MNA Ms Anosha Rehman.
