Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif has asserted that Pakistan would be free, safe from dacoits and robbers and made the country for the common man, where there would be supremacy of merit and due rights would be available to all citizens. He expressed the hope that the students who were receiving laptops would evolve plans for prosperity of the country, treatment of dengue and development of agri economy. He said that the elimination of corruption and plunderers was essential to realise the dream of a glorious future of the country.
He was addressing a laptop distribution ceremony among four thousand male and female students who had achieved prominent positions in various examinations in University of Sargodha on Wednesday. Members National Assembly Marvi Memon, Sardar Shafqat Hayat Baloch, Shehzadi Umerzadi Tiwana, Abdur Razzaq Dhillon, Mukhtar Ahmad Bharath, Tahir Sindhu, Farooq Bahaulhaq, Ayub Bha, Ghulam Nizamuddin Sialvi, Pir Ameer ul Hasnaat, Waris Kallu, Hamid Hameed, Shahnawaz Ranjha, Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha, Vice Chancellor Dr Akram Chaudhry, Commissioner, District Coordination Officer, deans of various departments, professors, teachers, notables, politicians and a large number of students and parents were present on the occasion.
The CM said that the present rulers had created a gulf between the rich and the poor in the country to such an extent that the dream of the Quaid and Iqbal seemed impossible to materialise. He said that the rulers were playing in the hands of foreign powers and were compromising national pride and dignity as well as enacting the bloodshed of innocent citizens in return for a few pennies. He said that the students were the custodians of the future of the country and Pakistan would be steered out of crises via their help. He said that the nation had taken a plunge into darkness and despair due to disregarding Quranic teachings and the principles of Quaid and Iqbal, whereas the West had transformed their countries into welfare states by acting upon these teachings. He said that there was a need to follow Islamic principles for transforming the country into a welfare state. He said that the palaces and mansions constructed via corruption and foreign wealth were a negation of the ideals of Quaid and Iqbal. He said that Pakistan had been facing fascism throughout the last 64 years and drifting in the dark. He said that the youth of the country held the key to national progress and prosperity and the problems being faced by the country would be overcome with their help. He said that distribution of laptops among 125,000 students of the province for their hard work and commitment would bring about an academic and intellectual revolution. He said that due to the policies of Punjab government, hundreds of thousands of poor and deserving students were receiving education and were benefiting from the endowment fund of eight billion rupees.
Regarding recruitment policy of Punjab government, he said that 74,000 science and general teachers had been recruited on merit and no political or ineligible person had been appointed. He said that recruitment on political basis in the past had given nothing but deprivation to the people and efforts were being made for the rectification of the situation.
