The Hindu community celebrated their religious festival of Holi on Wednesday with traditional fever.
Special prayers were held in temples and a Holi procession was also staged.
Different cultural programs were also arranged on the occasion and a special ceremony was held with a bonfire lit at the centre of the Shri Swaminarayan Mandir ground.
The prayers were followed by playing with colours.
Holi is also known as Festival of Colours. It is celebrated at the end of the winter season on the last full moon day, which usually falls in the later part of February or March.
Every year, thousands of Hindus participate in the Holi festival ready to spread the joy. Holi celebrates the beginning of the new season, spring. It also has a religious purpose, commemorating many events that are present in Hindu mythology.
Although it is the least religious holiday, it is probably one of the most exhilarating ones in existence.
